General dentists refer patients to endodontists for further evaluation and specialized endodontic treatment for cases involving infections or abscesses inside of the tooth that may require root canal procedures.

During the patient’s first visit, the endodontist will evaluate the condition to be treated and consult with the patient about diagnosis and treatment options. Using x-rays, digital imaging and physical examination (such as testing pain response to bite, palpitation, percussion, sensitivity to cold and heat, mobility of the tooth and the health of surrounding gum tissue) to determine the severity of the problem, the endodontist can proceed with treatment on the same day. More complex treatment may require additional visits.

Patients should have the following information available for the endodontist at the time of consultation:

• Referral slip and x-rays
• Medications being taken
• Health conditions, such as allergies, diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints and rheumatic fever
• Insurance information, with the subscriber information

A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18.

Every patient’s financial situation is unique. Orange County Endodontics offers the finest care at the most reasonable cost, with a variety of payment options, the lowest possible fee and the maximum benefits from insurance. Patients can use cash, debit cards and all major credit cards. For uninsured patients, there is the option of Care Credit. Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made.

Orange County Endodontics accepts most insurance plans, including HMO, PPO and indemnity plans. Prior to a patient’s first visit, the friendly and competent office staff reviews the insurance coverage and informs the patient of any applicable copay. Patients should provide:

• Name of dental insurance provider
• Name of primary subscriber on the dental insurance
• Primary subscriber’s date of birth
• Primary subscriber’s identification number

The staff prepares and submits dental insurance claims and helps to make insurance collections. Remaining balances are the patient’s responsibility.
